Our Heartstrings projects have been wonderfully received and we are again this year “paying it forward” with an opportunity for all to join in the One Million Pillowcase Challenge. Your participation will help the American Patchwork & Quilting organization reach the goal of donating one million pillowcases to local charities. Our camp contribution will be going to the Oncology Center of Rush-Copley in Yorkville, IL. Your kindness in creating these pillowcases will make a difference for those patients going through a very difficult time in their lives. Each patient will receive a pillowcase upon the completion of his or her chemotherapy.
You may plan to make your pillowcase at home and bring it to camp, or there will be some kits available at camp for you to complete while there. Please use 100% cotton fabric and use bright and colorful fabrics to show off your work. The directions for the standard/queen pillowcases are available for download here.
You will not see the delight you bring. You will not feel the hugs you richly deserve, but you will know deep in your heart that your thoughtfulness and kindness surely will have made a difference for one who needs hopefulness.
Thank you for joining the challenge helping to bring a MILLION smiles.
